Best email tools for non-profits in 2026: price and GDPR

The best email tool for non-profits: WeGlow Mail, MailerLite, Flexmail, Brevo and Mailchimp compared on price, discounts and GDPR (2 Oct 2026).

The best email tool for a Belgian or Dutch non-profit is WeGlow Mail if you collect donations through WeGlow, because mailing, donors and donation pages share one login. If you do not, MailerLite and Flexmail are the best-value alternatives we could confirm, followed by Brevo and Mailchimp. We only list tools whose prices and non-profit offers we confirmed on their official sites on 2 October 2026.

1. WeGlow Mail: best if you raise money with WeGlow

Why it comes first: it opens from your WeGlow dashboard, WeGlow donors can be synced in as contacts, and smart groups fill from donations (active, frequent, monthly, lapsed and lost donors). A guided four-step flow (write, who gets it, check, send) leads you through each campaign, with a check step that excludes bounced and unsubscribed people.

Glowie drafts a whole mail from an idea in about 30 seconds, and you review it before it goes out.

Price: free up to 250 contacts (500 emails a month), then from €19 per month (excl. VAT) for up to 1,000 contacts, from €49 for 5,000 and from €79 for 10,000. With the WeGlow Pro plan (€40 per month or €400 per year), mailing is included up to 2,500 contacts. Check the current prices in your dashboard. There is no separate non-profit discount that we advertise.

2. MailerLite: lowest price, 30% non-profit discount

MailerLite's free plan covers 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month. Paid Comfort plans are €17 at 1,000 subscribers, €44 at 5,000 and €79 at 10,000 on monthly billing (Power: €35, €59, €109), and verified non-profits get 30% off.

It states that its data storage centre is in the EU. It is a general newsletter tool, so donor data is yours to import and maintain.

3. Flexmail: Belgian, unlimited sending, vzw discount

Flexmail has no free plan, only a trial. At 1,000 contacts Start costs €17, Essential €34 and Pro €78 per month excl. VAT (monthly billing), with unlimited mailing. vzw's get a discount on Essential, Pro and Premium (amount not published).

It presents itself as a Belgian, European tool and offers A/B testing and phone support on Pro. Prices for 5,000 and 10,000 contacts sit behind a slider we could not read, so check them on its site.

4. Brevo: cheapest for volume, priced on emails sent

Brevo's free plan allows up to 300 emails a day. Paid plans start at €7 per month (Starter, from 5,000 emails a month) and €15 (Standard). Because it prices by emails sent, it can be very cheap for small lists. It offers 20% off to recognised non-profits and states that its servers are in the EU.

5. Mailchimp: big ecosystem, prices behind a calculator

Mailchimp has a free plan (250 contacts, 500 sends a month) and gives non-profits 15% off paid plans on request. It processes European data in the United States under a data processing addendum and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We could not read its price per contact band as text, so use its calculator.

How we compared

We looked at four things that matter to a non-profit: price at 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 contacts, the free plan and any non-profit discount, what the vendor itself says about GDPR and hosting, and how well the tool works with donor data.

We left out tools whose prices or non-profit offers we could not confirm on the official site. That means this list is not complete, and it is not a ranking by features alone. WeGlow Mail is first because of the donor integration, not because it is the cheapest.

Which one should you pick?

  • You collect donations on WeGlow: WeGlow Mail. Start with the free 250 contacts, and consider Pro if you want mailing included up to 2,500 contacts.
  • Price is decisive and donations run elsewhere: MailerLite, or Brevo for small, infrequent lists.
  • You want a Belgian supplier and unlimited sending: Flexmail.
  • You already live in it: Mailchimp, and ask for the 15% discount.
What is the best free email tool for a non-profit?

Brevo's free plan allows 300 emails a day; MailerLite's allows 2,500 emails a month for 250 subscribers. WeGlow Mail is free up to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, inside your WeGlow account.

Which email tool gives non-profits a discount?

MailerLite 30%, Brevo 20%, Mailchimp 15% and Flexmail an unpublished vzw discount, all on request with proof of status.

Is Mailchimp GDPR compliant?

Mailchimp states it transfers European data to the United States under a data processing addendum and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Whether that suits you is a decision for your data protection record.
