WeGlow in Ireland

Online fundraising for Irish charities, all in one place

WeGlow.world is an online fundraising platform for charities, sports clubs, schools and community groups in Ireland. You build your own donation page, run a Christmas or GivingTuesday appeal, sell tickets for a table quiz and give charity runners their own fundraising pages, all under your charity's name, logo and colours.

You set it up yourself, at your own pace. Creating an account is free, with no set-up costs and no contract, and your donation page only goes live once your charity has connected its own Mollie account.

How do donors in Ireland pay?

Your donation page takes gifts in EUR. Donors in Ireland can pay with Visa / Mastercard.

Payments are processed by Mollie. Your charity connects its own Mollie account, so donations are paid out to your organisation by Mollie rather than held by WeGlow.

Your donation page shows the methods that are switched on in your Mollie account.

Can supporters give every month?

Yes. On a WeGlow donation page a supporter can choose a monthly gift instead of a one-off one: the first payment sets it up, and the following gifts are collected automatically. Every gift, one-off or monthly, is linked to that supporter, so you can see at a glance who gives regularly and thank them properly.

Regular giving also matters for tax relief in Ireland. Revenue counts gifts paid in instalments, such as a monthly direct debit or a standing order, together towards the yearly minimum of the Charitable Donation Scheme (CHY3 / CHY4 certificates), so a modest monthly gift can bring a donor over the line.

How does tax back on donations work in Ireland?

In Ireland, tax relief on gifts to charities runs through the Charitable Donation Scheme (CHY3 / CHY4 certificates). The donor signs a certificate or declaration, and the charity claims the tax relief on the gift.

In practice, the donor fills in and signs a certificate and gives it to your charity. Your charity needs Revenue's authorisation as an approved body, and it makes the claim itself through ROS (Revenue Online Service). Revenue sets a yearly minimum per donor and a four-year time limit for claims. Not every payment counts: membership subscriptions, gifts that bring the donor a benefit such as event entry, and sponsorship that a participant collects from other people do not qualify.

WeGlow does not handle this scheme for you. Your charity collects the certificates and makes the claim. WeGlow gives you a record of every gift per supporter and an export of your donor list, so you can work out who gave enough over the year to be asked for a certificate.

Appeals, events and charity runners on one platform

Run your Christmas appeal or a GivingTuesday campaign from one campaign page that shows the total raised so far, and share it by email and on social media. Sell tickets for a table quiz, a gala dinner or a sponsored walk, and scan them at the door.

When supporters sign up for a mini marathon or a city marathon on your behalf, each runner gets a personal fundraising page, on their own or as part of a team, and everything they raise counts towards your campaign.

One thing to tell your runners before race day: Revenue's guidance says money a participant collects from sponsors does not count as that participant's own donation for tax relief.

When do Irish charities fundraise?

Late November to Christmas Eve is the main appeal season in Ireland. The RTÉ Late Late Toy Show Appeal falls in the same weeks, and much of the money it raises is given through a banking app on a phone, so a donation page that works well on mobile matters most then. GivingTuesday, on the Tuesday after US Thanksgiving, falls early in the season.

The rest of the year has its own moments: tax-back drives to collect donor certificates from December to February, Daffodil Day, Lenten appeals up to Easter, Darkness Into Light, and charity runners for the Women's Mini Marathon and the Dublin Marathon.

The WeGlow Christmas fundraising hub has practical articles written for Irish charities, from table quizzes and raffles to the tax relief scheme.

Your supporters and your mailings together

Donors, ticket buyers and fundraisers all end up in your donor list in WeGlow, with their gifts in one place. Once you have written a thank-you text, every donor gets a thank-you email automatically after their gift.

With WeGlow CRM and WeGlow Mail, two optional add-ons, you keep each supporter's full history together and send newsletters and appeals from the same platform.

Frequently asked questions

Can Irish charities use WeGlow?

Yes. A charity, club or community group in Ireland can create a WeGlow.world account on its own and set up a donation page in EUR. To receive donations, you connect your own Mollie account. Mollie reviews your organisation first and decides whether it can accept it.

Which payment methods can donors in Ireland use?

On WeGlow.world, donors in Ireland can pay with Visa / Mastercard. We only list the methods we have checked for Ireland; your Mollie account may offer others as well.

Can supporters set up a monthly donation?

Yes. A donor can choose a monthly gift on your WeGlow.world donation page. The first payment sets up the regular gift and the following payments are collected automatically, and you see every monthly giver in your donor list.

How does an Irish charity claim tax back on donations?

Through the Charitable Donation Scheme (CHY3 / CHY4 certificates). The donor signs a certificate or declaration, and the charity claims the tax relief on the gift. The charity must be authorised by Revenue as an approved body and makes its claims through ROS (Revenue Online Service), within Revenue's four-year time limit. WeGlow.world does not file these claims; its donor records and export help you see which supporters to ask for a certificate.

Can WeGlow claim the tax back for us?

WeGlow does not handle this scheme for you. It does not collect donor certificates or send claims to Revenue. Your donor records show what each supporter gave over the year, which is the starting point for your own claim.

Does sponsorship money raised by charity runners qualify for tax relief?

Not as the runner's own gift. Revenue's guidance says money a participant collects from sponsors is not that participant's own donation for tax relief. On WeGlow.world each sponsor's gift is recorded separately on the runner's fundraising page.

What does it cost to get started?

Creating a WeGlow.world account and building your first donation page is free, with no set-up costs and no contract. You will find the current fees on our pricing page.
