Online Christmas campaign with a digital experience
Four digital experiences for your charity Christmas campaign: Glow Room, Starry Sky, Gift Yard and Card Wall. A concept with a demo.
In short An online Christmas campaign with a digital experience makes every donation visible: a bauble, a star, a gift or a stamped envelope. These are four WeGlow.world concepts, available as demos until the official launch. Here is what each one does, which organisation it suits and how to set it up in four to six weeks.
this article describes the rules in Spain.
Why an online Christmas campaign needs more than a button
A donation page works, but it does not get shared on its own. People who give in December want their gesture to stay in view. A digital experience puts it on screen and gives the donor something to show their family.
Still choosing a format? Start with our guide to ideas for a charity Christmas campaign. If you already know you want an online campaign, read on: the experience is the visible layer, and underneath sits a simple donation.
What a digital experience is, and what it is not yet
A digital experience is a 3D scene in which every donation becomes an object with a personal card. The donor picks the object, writes a few lines, pays and watches their contribution appear. Any visitor can open other people's cards.
To be clear: the four experiences are a concept, with a demo, until the official launch. You can view and try them, but do not treat them as a finished product if your campaign has a fixed date. If it cannot wait, rely on the standard donation page.
Glow Room: a Christmas tree in a warm living room
The Glow Room is a 3D living room with a Christmas tree and a fireplace. Every donation becomes a decoration that the donor hangs, with their card, on a golden ring of the tree.
- The donor chooses a decoration from your organisation, and each decoration has its own price.
- They write a card with a name, who it is for and a message; a photo is optional.
- They check the card, choose how to pay and hang the decoration.
In the demo, the candles, the lamps and the fireplace light up as the campaign nears its goal. It suits organisations that want a shared moment: the whole community lights up a room together. You can choose your organisation's colours or WeGlow's, and your logo appears at the top.
Starry Sky: every donation is a star
The Starry Sky is the quiet option. Your donors look at the night sky above a Christmas market with a Ferris wheel, choose a star and write a card. The star lands on the market and anyone can open it.
The stars have the shape and colour you prepare, and all of them are the same size and brightness. The amount does not appear next to the star, so nobody compares sums: a donation of 5 euros shines just like one of 100.
With the arrows, the visitor flies from star to star and reads the messages, or searches for a name. It is a good choice for a small association that wants atmosphere more than spectacle.
Gift Yard: a present for every donor
The Gift Yard is a snowy yard with a wooden cabin, a bonfire and a Christmas tree. Every donation becomes a present with its card, and the visitor flies to the next parcel.
- The donor chooses the wrapping paper and writes their card.
- You choose the ribbon, the layout (in a ring or scattered) and whether animals roam the yard.
- You can switch between outside and inside the cabin.
It has a cheerful, family feel, ideal if your campaign is about childhood or gifts.
Card Wall: stamped envelopes on a wall
The Card Wall imitates old-fashioned post. Every donation becomes an envelope with a stamp and a wax seal, fixed to a wall, and one click opens the card.
The donor chooses a stamp, each with its own price, and the colour of the wax seal. Then they write their wish and pay. The visitor can search for a card by name, read them one by one or share the wall.
It suits organisations that are very close to their members: together, the cards form a single greeting.
How to do it with WeGlow.world
Underneath the experience sits a donation page that exists today: it is completed in three steps (amount, personal details and summary) and allows one-off and monthly donations, with your own amounts and labels. It works on mobile. If you have questions, write to us on the contact page.
- Create your account on WeGlow.world and set up the donation page with your amounts.
- Write the thank you text: the thank you email is only sent if the organisation has filled it in.
- Ask your members and volunteers to open their own action page to raise money among their contacts.
- Choose the experience that best fits your organisation's tone and watch the demo with your team.
A six-week plan for a campaign with an experience
A schedule for two or three people, counting back from the end of December. If you start late, four weeks are enough if you cut the preparation.
- Weeks 6 and 5: decide the goal, tone and experience; prepare the amounts and labels, such as "a hot meal".
- Week 4: write the campaign text and the thank you text; test with 5 to 10 people close to you.
- Weeks 3 and 2: launch the campaign and activate members and volunteers with their own action pages.
- Week 1 and the final week: share lovely cards, say thank you every day and close with a summary.
What to check with your organisation before launching
A digital experience does not change the rules. If you want your donors to be able to claim a deduction, the deduction under Law 49/2002 only applies to organisations covered by article 16: 80% on the first 250 euros and 40% above that, with 45% for recurring donors. An association without a declaration of public utility (declaración de utilidad pública) falls outside that regime.
Issuing the donation certificate requires the donor's NIF (Spanish tax number). WeGlow.world does not issue tax certificates in Spain: ask your accountancy firm (gestoría) or the Spanish tax agency (Agencia Tributaria). If you plan to add a raffle or tombola, the rules depend on your autonomous region: ask your regional government.
For your emails, the LSSI (the Spanish law on information society services) requires prior consent, with narrow exceptions: the safest course is to ask for clear consent when people donate.
Frequently asked questions
Are the experiences available yet?
They are concepts with a demo until the official launch. You can try them on each experience's page, but for a campaign with a fixed date, count on the standard donation page as a safe base.
Which experience should I choose for a small association?
The Starry Sky or the Card Wall, for their quiet, personal tone. Choose according to your organisation's character.
Does the donor have to write a card?
Every object carries a message. The photo and the name of the person receiving the card are optional; without a photo, the card shows the donor's initials.
Can you see how much each person gave?
Not in the Starry Sky: all stars are equal and the amount does not appear next to them.
Can I use my colours and my logo?
Yes. Each experience shows your organisation's logo and name at the top, and you can work with your own colours.
