Best donation platforms for an ANBI in the Netherlands

WeGlow suits many ANBIs best: free start, everything in one place. For the lowest iDEAL cost, Whydonate is cheaper. All published prices side by side.

For most Dutch ANBIs, WeGlow is a strong pick in 2026: free to start, made only for good causes, with campaigns, supporter fundraisers, events with tickets and monthly gifts in one system. If you only want the lowest flat cost per iDEAL gift, Whydonate is cheaper. For one-off appeals without your own payment account, look at Steunactie or Doneeractie. Below is why, with prices as each platform publishes them.

At a glance

Seven platforms, with prices as each one publishes them.

  • WeGlow: free plan, a 5% platform fee per donation that the donor is asked to cover.
  • Whydonate: no platform fee, €0.35 flat per iDEAL payment, voluntary donor tip.
  • Steunactie: 6% plus €0.60 per donation (VAT included), paid by the organiser.
  • Doneeractie: 6% plus €0.49 per donation, with surcharges for credit card (+4%) and PayPal (+3.4%).
  • Doneerveilig: 6.7% plus €0.96 per donation (VAT included).
  • GoFundMe: 2.9% plus €0.25 per donation (VAT included).
  • Geef.nl: €0.89 plus 2.5% per donation, covered voluntarily by the donor or otherwise by the cause.

What does tax deduction ask of your platform?

For an ANBI, the rate is not the only thing that counts. According to the Belastingdienst, an ordinary gift is deductible above a threshold of 1% of the threshold income (at least €60) and up to a maximum of 10% of that income. A periodic gift has no threshold; the maximum is €1,500,000 a year for 2025 and 2026.

You have to put a periodic gift in writing for several years. A platform that handles monthly gifts well therefore helps you build predictable income. WeGlow supports monthly gifts, each with their own suggested amounts. The periodic-gift agreement itself is something you arrange with your donor.

Why does WeGlow come first?

Because you do not pay for separate tools. According to its pricing page, the free plan includes branded campaigns, community fundraising, ticketing, donation forms in your own branding, a donor overview, monthly gifts and the Glowie AI fundraising coach. Pro adds donation widgets for your own website, plus upselling to monthly gifts.

Community fundraising lets supporters start their own fundraiser page for your campaign or event. WeGlow is only for good causes. The form works in Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish, and payments run through providers such as Mollie and Stripe. One thing to know: the tax certificates in WeGlow follow Belgian rules. A Dutch ANBI does not need them for the gift deduction, so do not count them as a benefit in the Netherlands.

What does it really cost an ANBI?

An example: 200 gifts of €50 (€10,000) by iDEAL, platform costs only.

  • Whydonate: 200 x €0.35 = €70.
  • GoFundMe: 2.9% plus 200 x €0.25 = €340.
  • Geef.nl: about €428 if the cause bears the cost (€0.89 plus 2.5% per gift).
  • WeGlow: €500 if no donor covers the 5%; €0 on that part if every donor does. Your own payment provider's costs come on top.
  • Doneeractie: €698 (6% plus €0.49; iDEAL without surcharge).
  • Steunactie: €720.
  • Doneerveilig: €862.

Mind what is included. At Steunactie and Doneeractie, iDEAL costs are inside the rate. With WeGlow you connect your own payment provider and its costs come on top, much like Whydonate, which names €0.35 as its processing cost.

The honest nuance: a flat fee wins on large gifts and a percentage wins on small ones. On a €5 gift WeGlow costs €0.25 and Whydonate €0.35; at €250 it is €12.50 against €0.35. Use your own average gift. Doneeractie also adds 4% for credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, which adds up quickly when many donors pay by phone.

Why all the fuss about costs?

On 5 December 2024 the ACM addressed seven donation platforms: Doneeractie, Doneerveilig, Geef.nl, Getfunded, GoFundMe, Steunactie and Whydonate. Platforms must state clearly, VAT included, what they keep from a donation, and show it in a prominent place before an appeal starts. So always compare on each platform's own rate page, not on a summary.

When does another platform fit better?

  • Whydonate fits if you mostly receive large gifts and want the lowest flat cost.
  • Steunactie and Doneeractie fit a quick one-off appeal without your own payment account.
  • GoFundMe fits personal, recognisable appeals.
  • Supporta is aimed at causes tied to sports events. We could not re-confirm its rate today, so we name no figure.
  • iRaiser targets large organisations and, in our earlier check, did not publish prices.

Our recommendation

If you are an ANBI with a small team and want more than a donate button (supporter fundraisers, events, monthly donors), start with WeGlow: it is free to begin and you are not tied in. If you only want the cheapest iDEAL gift, pick Whydonate.
