WeGlow vs Geef.nl for Dutch ANBI charities
Geef.nl or WeGlow? A fair comparison of fees, payouts and features for Dutch ANBI charities. WeGlow is the broader choice.
Geef.nl or WeGlow? For most Dutch ANBI charities that want their own look, supporter fundraising and events, WeGlow is the broader choice. Geef.nl stays a solid pick if you want a simple, free donation module on a long-running platform. Here is where the two really differ.
At a glance
Geef.nl charges at least EUR 0.89 plus 2.5% per donation. WeGlow charges 5% per donation and asks the donor to cover it. These are the four differences.
- Cost: Geef.nl charges a fixed fee of at least EUR 0.89 plus 2.5% per donation. The donor can pay it as a voluntary contribution (up to 20% of the donation); if not, the fundraiser or charity pays. WeGlow charges a 5% platform cost per donation and asks the donor to cover it. The free plan is EUR 0 a month.
- Payouts: at Geef.nl, donations pass through a third-party funds foundation with monthly overviews. With WeGlow you connect your own payment account (Mollie or Stripe).
- What is included: WeGlow has supporter fundraising pages, ticketed events, monthly gifts and a donation form in your own branding. Geef.nl offers an all-in-one package that is free for charities.
- Tax: WeGlow can send tax certificates in one click under Belgian rules. We make no claim about Dutch gift deduction.
What does each cost?
Geef.nl states its fee on the homepage: at least EUR 0.89 plus 2.5% of the amount. On a EUR 50 gift that is EUR 2.14. In the donation module, donors can choose a higher voluntary contribution, up to 20%. If they choose none, the transaction fee falls on you.
WeGlow uses a single percentage: 5%. On EUR 50 that is EUR 2.50. If the donor does not, the amount is settled with the organisation. No set-up fee and no contract.
To be fair: on a EUR 50 gift, Geef.nl's minimum is slightly lower than WeGlow's 5%. The real difference is what you get for it and who ends up carrying the cost. Your own payment provider's charges (Mollie or Stripe) come on top with WeGlow.
How does the money reach you?
On its accountability page, Geef.nl says donations and payouts run through a third-party funds foundation (Stichting Derdengelden) and that charities receive monthly donation overviews. That is tidy, but your money arrives in batches. According to the Geef.nl FAQ as we read it on 25 August 2026, payout follows within two weeks after the start of a new month.
With WeGlow you connect your own Mollie or Stripe account, so you see what comes in and when it is paid out under your payment provider's terms.
What can you do with it?
Geef.nl presents itself as an all-in-one package for charities, free to use. That is a real plus if your needs are small. WeGlow goes further on what charities do every week:
- Let supporters fundraise: people start their own fundraiser page for your campaign or event.
- Ticketed events with live totals, in the same place.
- One-off and monthly gifts, each with its own amounts and a label per amount, such as "A warm meal".
- Your own branding: logo, colours and story. Glowie, our candle, can rewrite your story in three tones and you approve everything.
- Five languages: Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish.
When does Geef.nl fit?
Choose Geef.nl if you want one simple donation module, you value a platform that has been around for years, and monthly payouts are fine for you. It also suits you if you like the idea that donors cover the costs voluntarily.
Conclusion
For a typical Dutch ANBI that wants more than a donate button, we recommend WeGlow: one clear rate, a free plan, your own payment account, and tools for supporters, events and monthly gifts. Start free at weglow.world; you do need an account first.
