WeGlow vs Supporta: fees, focus and fit for charities
Supporta or WeGlow? Compare donor fees, reach and features. Supporta fits sport events; WeGlow suits broader fundraising.
Supporta or WeGlow? If your fundraising hangs mostly on sport events, Supporta fits well. If you want to work more widely, with your own campaigns, events and monthly gifts, and you want donors to be allowed to cover platform costs rather than forced to, WeGlow is the better choice for most associations and foundations.
At a glance
Supporta fits fundraising around sport events; WeGlow fits a broader approach. Supporta says it is free for charities and passes platform costs on to the donor. At WeGlow the donor is asked to cover 5%.
- Cost to the charity: Supporta says it is free for charities because it passes platform costs on to the donor. WeGlow has a free plan (€0 a month) with a 5% platform cost per donation, where the donor is asked to cover it.
- Cost to the donor: per the terms we read earlier, €0.95 including VAT per donation on top of the gift. One Supporta customer describes it as 15% with a maximum of €0.95. With WeGlow it is 5%, and the donor can cover it or not.
- Focus: Supporta is strongly tied to sport events. WeGlow is built for campaigns, supporter fundraising, ticketed events and monthly gifts.
- Money: with both you connect your own payment account; WeGlow works with Mollie and Stripe, Supporta with Mollie.
What does your donor pay?
Supporta's site says platform costs are passed on to donors so donations go fully to the charity. We could not find the amount itself on the public site today.
The terms and conditions (updated 1 April 2023, read on 25 August 2026) state €0.95 including VAT per donation, on top of the gift. One customer, the Dutch Burns Foundation (Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting), describes 15% with a maximum of €0.95. So check for yourself what applies now.
What that means in practice, next to WeGlow's 5%:
- €5: WeGlow €0.25. Supporta: up to €0.95.
- €10: WeGlow €0.50. Supporta: up to €0.95.
- €25: WeGlow €1.25. Supporta: €0.95.
- €100: WeGlow €5. Supporta: €0.95.
The tipping point is around €19. With many small gifts, like a sponsored run where colleagues and neighbours give €5 or €10, a percentage is cheaper. With large gifts, Supporta's cap is cheaper. We say so plainly. If they do not, the 5% stays with the organisation.
What can you do with it?
Supporta connects you to more than 250 sport events and over 300 charities (according to their own site). That reach is hard to match if it is exactly what you want.
WeGlow gives you the whole toolbox in one place:
- Campaigns and supporter fundraising: people start their own page for your cause.
- Ticketed events with live totals, also outside sport.
- One-off and monthly gifts with their own amounts and labels.
- Your own branding and a story that Glowie (our candle) can rewrite for you, after which you approve.
- Five languages: Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish.
When does Supporta fit?
Choose Supporta if your fundraising revolves almost entirely around sport events and your average gift is well above €19. Then the cap works for you and you benefit from the link with existing events.
