WeRemember is a digital memorial page with a fundraiser for a good cause. A memorial page has a name, a description, photos, the dates of birth and passing and a linked charity. People who want to remember give through that page.
The thinking behind it: instead of flowers, friends and family can contribute to a charity that fits the life or wishes of the person who died.
How do you create a memorial page?
You choose a charity, fill in the details of the person who died, add photos and a story and share the link. According to the product description, funeral directors can register for free to set up memorial pages.

What does the charity see?
An organisation switches WeRemember on in its dashboard under integrations. After that it sees the number of memorial pages, the number of gifts and the total amount. It also sees a list of all memorial pages with a link to each page.
The organisation also manages its profile on the memorial pages: a name, a description, a logo and a banner. Each page shows the number of gifts and the amount raised.
Why donate instead of sending flowers?
More and more families ask for a gift instead of flowers, and a memorial page makes that easy. In an analysis of more than 10,000 death notices in Dutch newspapers in 2020, about 1 in 25 asked for a gift to a good cause, according to Uitvaartmedia, based on research by Offerte.nl.
A gift can also be interesting for tax. Stop Alzheimer gives an example: a tax certificate from €40 per gift, with a 30% tax reduction. In Belgium, that 30% applies since 1 January 2025 from at least €40 per year and per institution, according to the Belgian Federal Public Service Finance. Whether a gift qualifies depends on the organisation.
