What happens when Indigenous young people are given the tools to tell their own stories? You get something incredibly rare in todays world — raw beauty and truth. We’re so proud to share the news that we are re-booting Meet My World. This time as a tangible, limited edition, traditional cottage core, very much alive and in your hands book format. These rare gems are being created hand-in-hand with young people from rural communities in the Peruvian Andes. Meet My World began over a decade ago, when Amantani opened boarding houses in Cusco so children wouldn’t have to walk hours to get to school. In those homes, something quietly revolutionary started: the young people began filming, photographing, and documenting the world around them. Their world. Since 2015 it's been quite the trip for this truck load of stories. This book is the final destination of that journey. It features updated images and reflections from the young people who have stayed involved in the project and continue to share their perspectives on the world. Within the book's leaves you will find never-before-seen images — from those first filming days, to more recent photos captured over the past years, even during the pandemic, when cameras became a powerful form of artistic expression in complicated times the world over, and especially in the high mountains of Peru. Meet My World is more than a record of the past; it is a significant marker in time. A deeply human, visually stunning publication filled with sights, stories, and cultural knowledge that honour the beauty of young lives in the Andes, and the lives they have touched.
