GivingTuesday in Belgium, the Netherlands and France
How GivingTuesday runs in Belgium, the Netherlands and France: the 1 December 2026 date, who organises it and how your charity can register.
In 2026 GivingTuesday falls on Tuesday 1 December everywhere, but each country runs it in its own way. In Belgium, Fundraisers Belgium has been the official ambassador since 2026 with a showcase platform for organisations, the Netherlands has a movement around GivingTuesdayNL that began in 2019, and in France it is carried by the Association Française des Fundraisers.
How does GivingTuesday work across Europe?
GivingTuesday is a global movement that, by its own account, works through regional hubs including one for Europe. Its page of countries lists national movements for Belgium (#givingtuesdaybelgium), the Netherlands (#GivingTuesdayNL) and France (#GivingTuesdayFR), among others. Each movement chooses its own way of working, but the date and the idea are shared: a day when giving takes centre stage.
GivingTuesday in Belgium
According to Fundraisers Belgium, the professional association has been the official ambassador of GivingTuesday in Belgium since 2026. The platform was launched at their New Year event on 3 February 2026. It is a showcase: the platform itself does not collect money, goods or volunteers, but links through to participating organisations' own pages, such as their donation form or volunteer page.
Organisations can register free of charge at givingtuesdaybelgium.be, and pages only go live after approval. On 28 July 2026 dsc.be reported more than 100 registered organisations. From September a campaign of 14 weeks, "Elke dinsdag telt" (Every Tuesday Counts), also runs, with a different theme each week. The Belgian day is 1 December 2026.
What does it mean for you? You need your own place where people can actually give. The Belgian site sends visitors to you, not the other way round.
GivingTuesday in the Netherlands
The Dutch movement uses the hashtag #GivingTuesdayNL. According to Emerce, the first Dutch edition, on 3 December 2019, had more than 250 charities and other organisations on board.
The CBF, the Dutch charity watchdog, calls the 28 November 2023 edition the fifth Dutch one and describes the day as something anyone can join: giving money or goods to recognised charities, volunteering, helping a neighbour or offering a kind word. Participants are encouraged to share their good deeds with the hashtag.
GivingTuesday in France
In France the movement is carried by the Association Française des Fundraisers. The French site lists eight ways to take part, from money, time and in-kind gifts to blood donation, word of mouth, online campaigns and local events.
It offers toolkits for associations, citizens and companies, and organisations can publish their initiative there free of charge. For the 2025 edition the site reports 560 registered structures, more than 16 million euros collected and 6.45 million people reached. Those are the organisers' own figures, which we could not verify independently.
What differs by country, what stays the same?
- Same date: 1 December 2026 in Belgium and France, and the same worldwide day for the Netherlands.
- A showcase, not a till: national sites list organisations; the giving happens on your page.
- Language and tone: in Belgium you often write in several languages; in France, French is enough.
A practical tip: use the national sites for inspiration too. They show how other organisations explain their action in a few sentences, and how clear an ask has to be to stand out among hundreds of others. Borrow that short, concrete style for your own page.
What should a Belgian organisation do?
- Register on your country's national site (and wait for approval).
- Build one campaign page and one clear ask.
- Use the official hashtag in your posts.
- Communicate in your audience's languages.
How does WeGlow help?
WeGlow.world is built for Belgian and Dutch organisations. You get a campaign page with a donation form for one-off and monthly gifts, where you set your own amounts and labels. The form works on a phone, and supporters can start their own fundraiser page for your campaign.
The platform is available in Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish. You send emails with WeGlow Mail, which supports campaigns per language with automatic translation. Mail is free up to 250 contacts, and with the Pro platform plan (€40 per month or €400 per year, excl. VAT) mailing is included up to 2,500 contacts. Check current prices in your dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one Belgian GivingTuesday for all languages?
The Belgian site has a Dutch and an English version. Whether a French version exists we could not check.
Do I have to list my campaign on the national site?
No. It adds visibility, but it is not required.
Can a Belgian organisation also join the French or Dutch day?
The date is the same. You can run the same campaign in several languages; mind your own tax and legal situation if you approach donors abroad.
