WeGlow.world or your own website for Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday 2026: why WeGlow.world is the smarter choice than your own website for most nonprofits, and when building your own site wins.

TL;DR For most nonprofits a platform is the smart choice for Giving Tuesday: you go live faster, carry less risk on the day itself and build nothing yourself. WeGlow.world provides a donation page with payments, a thank you email and a Giving Tuesday preset: free to start, a 5% platform fee per gift, no contract. Your own website with a payment provider has no platform fee and is better if you have a developer and want full control. This article puts both side by side, honestly.

Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday 1 December 2026, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a global movement, so organisations in every country face the same choice: build a donation page yourself, or use a platform?

Whoever chooses early has time to test. Whoever waits builds in the last week, under stress.

WeGlow.world in short

WeGlow.world is a platform that lets nonprofits set up a donation page in their own branding, with a ready made Giving Tuesday preset. You start free, with no setup fees and no contract. It is built for organisations in any country. Available payment methods and tax rules differ by country.

  • Single and monthly amounts, each with a label that says what the gift does
  • A preset with title, subtitle, amounts and thank you text, filled in for English, Dutch, French and German
  • A countdown, a share button and a progress bar with a goal amount
  • Glowie, the AI assistant that rewrites your story in three tones
  • Languages: English, Dutch, French, German and Spanish

Why is a platform the smart choice for most nonprofits?

Because Giving Tuesday has a fixed date and leaves little room for mistakes. With a platform you can be live today and test the payment weeks in advance. You spend your time on your story and your supporters, not on technology.

Time to go live. On your own website you design, build and test a form and connect payments. That can take weeks. With WeGlow.world you complete a preset and publish the same day.

Risk on the day itself. On 1 December you do not want to test a payment that has never been used for real. On a platform where payments are already connected, you can try it beforehand, so the day is about your story.

What do you not have to build yourself?

Seven things: form, payments, security, thank you email, tax receipts, emails and posts. On your own website you handle all of them. With WeGlow.world they already exist, so you only fill them in.

  • Form: a donation page in your own branding, adapted to your story.
  • Payments: through payment providers such as Mollie and Stripe, with cards and local methods where they exist. What is available differs by country.
  • Security: the payment itself runs through those providers. You do not build or maintain a payment connection.
  • Thank you email: goes out automatically as soon as you fill in a thank you text.
  • Tax receipts: tax proof differs by country. WeGlow.world supports it only in some countries, so contact us about yours.
  • Emails: WeGlow Mail holds the Giving Tuesday emails, with the donor's first name filled in.
  • Posts: a free layout generator makes posts, stories and mail banners in your branding.

What does it really cost, and what is left after the day?

With both options you pay a payment provider. WeGlow.world adds a 5% platform fee per gift on top, which donors can cover. Your own website has no platform fee, but it needs building and upkeep, and time is then your biggest cost.

A hypothetical example: suppose you receive 100 gifts of €50 through Bancontact, €5,000 in total. On your own site with Mollie, Bancontact costs 1.40% + €0.25 per payment according to Mollie's pricing page, €95 in total. With WeGlow.world, a 5% platform fee is €250 if no donor covers it, and €0 for the organisation if every donor does. What the payment provider charges on top is on the pricing page.

A second hypothetical example: suppose a developer needs 20 hours to build and test your page. Those hours come off your story and your emails, even if you do not pay for them. So your own website is cheaper per gift, but not always cheaper in total.

After Giving Tuesday your donation page stays up. You thank supporters through WeGlow Mail, send an update and let supporters start their own action page for your campaign.

WeGlow.world and your own website side by side

For a non technical team WeGlow.world is the stronger choice on almost every criterion: faster, less work and less risk. Your own website only wins on freedom of design. The table shows each criterion.

When your own website is the better choice

Your own website fits if you have a developer, want full control over design or already have a payment connection that works well. Then the extra freedom is worth it. You can also combine them: your site links with a button to your donation page.

  • You have a permanent developer or agency for upkeep.
  • You want a design a platform cannot give.
  • Your donations are part of a larger web shop.
  • You receive many gifts and do not want to pay a platform fee per gift.
