Giving Tuesday on a small budget: free steps

Join Giving Tuesday 2026 without a big budget. Five free steps with a donation page, a free layout generator, downloads and an 8 week plan.

TL;DR You do not need a big budget for Giving Tuesday on 1 December 2026. Starting free with WeGlow.world gives you a donation page, the free layout generator makes your posts and stories, and the free downloads include guides and a planner. What you bring yourself: a goal, a real photo and time, about 2 to 3 hours a week for 8 weeks.

Many small organizations assume a good Giving Tuesday costs money. It does not have to. What makes the difference is a clear goal, a real story and personal asks to people you already know.

This article gives five concrete steps you can take for free, with an 8 week plan. Amounts and rules differ per country, so check local details where they matter.

What do you need at minimum for Giving Tuesday?

You need four things: a goal, a real photo, a donation page and a list of people you will ask personally. None of the four needs a big budget. Only payment providers charge a fee per gift, and the WeGlow.world rates are on the pricing page.

Step 1: choose a goal and a story

Choose one concrete goal in one sentence, with an amount, and one real photo or person who carries the story. It costs nothing and it is the most important thing you do. A clear goal makes giving easy and a real story makes it personal.

  • A goal in one sentence, for example "We want to raise 1,000 euros for new team shirts"
  • One real photo from your work, ideally with permission from the people in it
  • Three sentences of story: who, what, and what the gift makes possible

For help with the goal, read how to set your goal. If you already have a story, you can reuse it: see reusing a story for Giving Tuesday. Glowie, the AI assistant in WeGlow.world, rewrites your story in three tones: personal, professional and urgent. You choose what to keep.

Step 2: set up a donation page for free

With WeGlow.world you start free, with no setup fees and no contract. You get a donation page in your own branding with logo and colour, one-time and monthly amounts, and a Giving Tuesday preset where the title, subtitle, amounts and thank you text are already filled in.

  1. Create an account and add your name, logo and colour.
  2. Choose the Giving Tuesday preset and adjust the texts.
  3. Give each amount a label that says what the gift does, for example "25 euros = a team shirt".
  4. Add a target amount with a progress bar and a countdown clock.
  5. Fill in a thank you text, so the thank you email goes out automatically.

Donors can pay by card, and other payment methods are available depending on your country and payment provider (for example Mollie or Stripe). The full walkthrough is in creating a Giving Tuesday donation page.

Step 3: make free visuals with the layout generator

The free layout generator in WeGlow.world makes posts, stories, covers and email banners in four sizes: 1080 by 1080, 1080 by 1920, 1584 by 396 and 1200 by 400 pixels. When you are logged in, it fills in your name, logo and colour automatically. You do not need a designer.

FormatSizeUse
Square1080 × 1080Instagram or Facebook post
Story1080 × 1920Story or reel
Wide cover1584 × 396LinkedIn cover
Email banner1200 × 400Top of an email or a cover

Open the layout generator, pick your photo and text, and download the result. More tips are in social media posts for Giving Tuesday.

Step 4: use the ready-made emails and guides

You do not have to write emails from scratch. The Giving Tuesday emails, the email pack and the thank you pack, are ready in WeGlow Mail. You replace the sample text with your own story, add the button to your donation page and schedule the send. With the first name tag you address everyone personally.

  • The email pack with announcement, story and call to action
  • The thank you pack for after the day itself
  • The playbook for 1 December, hour by hour
  • The planner and spreadsheets to track your progress

All guides are on the downloads page. Also read how to set up your emails. Mind the privacy rules: only email people you are allowed to email, with an unsubscribe link. The GDPR applies across the EU, and other countries have their own rules, so check with your local data protection authority.

Step 5: use your network and the national movement

Your most important channel is free: the people you know personally. Approach 30 to 50 people directly and ask them to give and to share. Also look at your country's official GivingTuesday movement, because many national movements run their own website or showcase where organizations can be listed. You find them on the GivingTuesday country page.

With WeGlow.world, supporters can start their own action page for your campaign. One enthusiastic volunteer who asks their own circle brings in new people. More on this in ambassadors and supporters. The official GivingTuesday toolkit recommends real images and personal stories, see the toolkit.

What plan fits 8 weeks and little time?

With about 2 to 3 hours a week it works in 8 weeks. Start with the donation page, then build your visuals and emails, and finish with personal asks and thank yous. This is a sample plan, not a fixed rule: shift it if you have less time.

Weeks 1 and 2 (until 19 October)Choose goal, story and photo, set up the donation page
Weeks 3 and 4Make visuals, draw up a list of 30 to 50 people
Weeks 5 and 6Register with your national movement, send the first announcement

A more detailed version is in the playbook for 1 December.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really do Giving Tuesday without a budget?

Yes, for the preparation. WeGlow.world is free to start, and the layout generator and downloads are free. Payment providers charge a fee per gift, and the rates are on the pricing page.

Do I need a designer for my posts?

No. The free layout generator in WeGlow.world makes posts, stories, covers and email banners and fills in your name, logo and colour automatically when you are logged in.

How much time does it take per week?

Plan for about 2 to 3 hours a week for 8 weeks. With the preset and the ready-made emails in WeGlow.world, the work is mostly adjusting rather than writing.

Do I have to pay to be listed on my country's GivingTuesday site?

That depends on the national movement, so check the conditions on its own website. A listing normally points to your own page, for example your WeGlow.world donation page.

What is the best first step if I have little time?

Set up your donation page. With WeGlow.world you start free and the title, amounts and thank you text are already filled in. After that you can build the rest step by step.
